2. What is the difference between a chip and PIN and magstripe card?

Chip and PIN uses a secure chip for dynamic transaction data and PIN verification, while magstripe cards rely on a static magnetic stripe for data and often just a signature.

3. What is a contactless payment? 

Contactless payment utilizes near-field communication (NFC) for short-range wireless data exchange between cards/devices and readers for secure transactions.

4. How do you know if you can use contactless payment at a merchant? 

All merchants with contactless payment terminals will have this icon on their machine. 

5. Can a card be charged multiple times or by accident via contactless payment method?

This is highly unlikely due to reader protocols rejecting multiple card taps and requiring close proximity for activation.

6. What should I do if my chip card is lost or stolen?

7. What happens to my magstripe card when my new cards are delivered? 

All existing magstripe cards are due to expire starting August 4th, 2024. We ask you bring in your old card at the time of collection, so that it can be destroyed.

Memorize and protect your PIN: Do not write down your pin or share it with anyone.
Shield your PIN at the terminal: Be aware of your surroundings when entering your PIN.
Keep your card in sight: Do not let your card leave your hand during a transaction.

9. Where can I use my VISA Debit Card?

Your Visa debit card can be used at any local ATM or Point of Sale machine that utilizes the LINX network.
Your Visa debit card purchases only transacts in TT$ and at ATM and Point of Sale machines in Trinidad.
